Black Employment and Unemployment in November 2010

The unemployment rate for Blacks was 16.0 last month. This is according to the latest report on the nations employment situation released Friday morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in its monthly Employment Situation report. This rate increased from October, when unemployment in the Black community stood at 15.7. For the nation as a whole, unemployment rose slightly to 9.8 in the month of November. Among whites, unemployment was 8.9; among Latinos, unemployment was 13.2. Comparable October 2010 figures were 9.6; 8.8; and 12.6 respectfully. Overall, total payroll employment increased by just 39,000.
