Black Employment and Unemployment in October 2010

The unemployment rate for Blacks was 15.7 last month. This is according to the latest report on the nations employment situation released this morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in its monthly Employment Situation report. This rate decreased slightly from September, when unemployment in the Black community stood at 16.1. For the nation as a whole, unemployment remained stable at 9.6 in the month of October. Among whites, unemployment was 8.8; among Latinos, unemployment was 12.6. Comparable August 2010 figures were 9.6; 8.7; and 12.4 respectfully. Overall, total payroll employment increased by 151,000.
