Tools for Organizers

In Export Processing Zones and Industries

Tools for OrganizersIn March, 2003, the AFL-CIO’s American Center for International Labor Solidarity (Solidarity Center) launched a program to identify and disseminate best practices in organizing as a strategy for addressing exploitation of workers in export-oriented industries. The Solidarity Center contracted with the UC Berkeley Labor Center to document organizing successes in EPZs around the world, and use those practices to produce these training materials for rank-and-file union activists, organizers and NGO workers.

Young Workers

Eyes on the Fries

Eyes on FriesLow wages, erratic schedules, no health care, work-school conflicts. This film looks beyond the stereotypes of carefree and undeserving youth to uncover a reality that millions of young working people know all too well: no matter how hard you work and how well you do in school, it can be difficult to stay afloat when you're coming of age in a "McJob" economy. But there are ways to improve things — and young people are taking the lead.
