2—DAY WORKSHOPS
Collective Bargaining and Contract Campaigns.
Covers bargaining strategies to help win decent wages, working conditions,and benefit packages. Simulations and exercises will be used to practice skills. Participants are welcome to bring their own questions about bargaining strategies for discussion and brainstorming solutions.
In It for the Long Haul — Balancing Life, Job, and Union.
Trade union women juggle work, family, friends, communityservice, and union activity. In this workshop, union women will learn and share strategies for handling stress and “lifeoverload.” Participants will also learn how to educate and organize the union membership around work/family issues, andnegotiate family-friendly contract language.
Arts and Movement Building.
A song, a skit, the spoken word, clever bi-lingual chants, posters — all help put the spirit intoyour organizing work. This workshop will help you discover how to use and create culture, and what resources are available. A combination of discussion, demonstration, hands-on experience, and FUN!
Training Skills / Speaker Training.
Become more comfortable speaking out at meetings, giving presentations, conductingworkshops, and inspiring others to take action. This class will help you develop skills and confidence to grab the microphone and make your voice heard.
Organize to Stop Workplace Pain and Illness.
Focuses on identifying and taking control over unsafe and unhealthy workingconditions by mobilizing workers to take action. Learn creative options for engaging in the fight for our lives.
Tackling “isms” in the Workplace and the Union.
Sexism, racism, homophobia, ageism, and other “isms” can divideworkers and weaken the union. Learn how to tackle “isms” by acting out and discussing constructive ways to expose andaddress these barriers.
