Andrea Buffa
Communications Specialist

Andrea Buffa is the Labor Center’s new Communications Analyst. Before coming to the Labor Center, Andrea most recently worked at the human rights organization Global Exchange, as the Communications Director and Campaigns Director. Previously, Andrea served as the executive director of the San Francisco-based media training, resource and advocacy center, Media Alliance. She has also done PR and organizing for a diversity of San Francisco Bay Area community organizations, written for numerous publications and websites, and recently taught a media and communications class at UC Davis. In her new role at CLRE, Andrea is charged with promoting and disseminating CLRE’s research, developing a speaker’s program in the Fall, and creating media opportunities for our Specialists.

Current Projects
Media Skills Workshop
A two-day workshop for union communications directors, leaders, and organizers who carry out media work. Features lessons in creating a communications strategy, developing and practicing effective media messages and learning the nuts and bolts of public relations.

Labor and Climate Change
Research and education about the impact of climate change legislation and the burgeoning green economy on California’s economy, workers and labor unions.
