The Labor Center's health care research focuses on analysis of the effects that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and state/local health policies have on workers, their families, unions, and employers, with an emphasis on California. Many of our publications include projections from the California Simulation of Insurance Markets (CalSIM) model, jointly developed with the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. The Labor Center has created tools to help individuals and stakeholders understand the ACA, such as an interactive calculator and summaries of the law. The health care work also aims to inform policymaking that expands coverage, improves health care access, and reduces disparities.
