Appendix to the brief “California health care minimum wage: New estimates for impacts on workers, patients, and the state budget”

Our brief “California health care minimum wage: New estimates for impacts on workers, patients, and the state budget” analyzes the impact SB 525, signed into law in October 2023, is projected to have on workers, patients, and the state budget in the first year of the policy. It updates our two earlier briefs, published in April and June of 2023, which both analyzed preliminary versions of the bill.

This appendix describes our methodology, some of which is new and some of which reflects updated methodology descriptions included in our first two briefs.
