About Alexis

Alexis Manzanilla is a health policy researcher who specializes in research on health coverage and cost trends in California, and policies to improve access to and affordability of health care for California workers and their families. Alexis was previously a communications director and legislative assistant for Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria from the Central Valley, where she helped work on legislation to create the Distressed Hospital Loan Program. She also worked in the Assembly Democratic Caucus’ Office of Outreach and Communication and at the Sacramento Native American Health Center. She has vast experience in researching and analyzing fast-moving policy in several issue areas, including health care, communicating clearly about policy impacts in a legislative context, and working with stakeholders, policymakers, and advocates. Alexis has a BA in Latinx studies and a BA in print journalism from San Francisco State University.
