About Mckela

Mckela Kanu is a researcher with the Power and Strategy Project. She is a graduate from Hamilton College with honors in World Politics. She interned at the Central NY Labor Council, responsible for drafting a Labor Education bill that was presented to the State Assembly by two co-sponsors.

During her senior year, she was an organizer in the unionization campaigns of the Admission workers and Resident Advisors. She was involved in building momentum and strategic planning. She is also a former Labor Summer 2021 intern. The program was a catalyst for her passion in improving conditions for marginalized workers by building power from the ground-up.
