The California Assembly Health Committee held a hearing “Health Care Affordability: How to Control Costs in California?” Testimony from academics, researchers, and government officials provided background on health care costs, the drivers of health care spending, data needed to advance cost containment efforts, health care industry consolidation, and how affordability concerns are hindering care for many Californians. The hearing also included discussion on options to control costs in California. Laurel Lucia’s testimony focused on how health care affordability impacts workers, consumers, and employers.
