    Description: Department of Energy (DOE) Research Support

    The UC Berkeley Labor Center is searching for graduate student researchers to work on research to understand the labor market impacts of the energy transition, and to identify strategies to accelerate quality job growth and equity in clean energy sectors. GSRs will help develop a community of practice and shared resources among researchers working on these topics in different regions. The goal of this work is to support effective workforce planning related to changing energy markets, and to coordinate learnings and research strategies.

    The position will involve research and writing on topics such as industrial and climate policies, job growth, labor standards, and career pathways. It may also involve working with data on the impacts of climate / energy investments. The position requires excellent research and writing skills and familiarity with climate, energy and labor policies.  Data analysis skills preferred but not required.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Graduate student in sociology, public policy, geography, city & regional planning, economics, political science, or other relevant departments
    • Excellent research and writing skills
    • Some experience with data analysis. Skills with GIS and Stata, R or Python are helpful but not required.
    • Background knowledge of climate and energy policies 
    • Background in labor markets, labor policy, and/or the US labor movement 
    • Ability to take initiative and work independently, and to work well in a team
