5.3.a Timeline to form a committee or workgroup
Some union contracts set specific deadlines for establishing joint committees or workgroups after contract ratification. These provisions promote timely action by defining when collaborative bodies should be launched, helping ensure that efforts to address technology-related issues begin without delay.
Examples:
- “The parties agree that the committee responsible for developing and implementing training on new technologies and AI tools will convene within 90 days of contract ratification.” (IATSE-PCBA46)
- “Within ninety (90) days from the effective date of the National Agreement, a Joint Motor Vehicle Service (MVS) Committee on training will be established at the National Level, which will consist of up to six (6) representatives of each party.” (APWU-PCBA14)
- “Within one hundred eighty (180) days of the signing of this Agreement, the Parties agree to establish a workgroup to explore the feasibility of implementing electronic communications between the Union and the [Employer], and the [Employer] and bargaining unit employees.” (NATCA-OPM100)
